Lydia Platt, Founding Leader, receives Certificate of Appreciation

May 8, 2019, Lydia Platt (Center), Fayetteville High School, Student Advisory Council (SAC), receives a Certificate of Appreciation from AAUW Talladega County Branch for her role as the SAC Founding Leader.  Presenting the award were Audrey L. Salgado (Left), Advisor, and Stephanie Brooks (Right), Sponsor.  “Lydia demonstrated outstanding leadership during the first year of the AAUW SAC at Fayetteville,” stated Amber Voss, President, AAUW Talladega County Branch.

Lydia is a rising eleventh grader in the Advanced Diploma program.  Her volunteer experience includes Vapor Ministries (Human Resources, Marketing, and Overseas Trip Preparation), Annual Shake and Bake 5K, Christ’s Closet Giveaway, and Veteran’s Day Program Speaker at Fayetteville High School.

Capstone Leadership Academy at University of Alabama, Microsoft Office Specialist (Word 2016), and WISE! Financial Literacy Certification were among her achievements/honors as well as Key Club President, FOCUS Vice President, Sportsmanship Award Varsity Women’s Basketball, Freshman Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Member of the Year, and Top Five Freshman Award at Fayetteville High School.

Since seventh grade, Lydia has pursued many activities/interests including Teen Pact/ Leadership Schools, Diamond Doll, FBLA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team, Daily Howl/News Team (Main Achor and Executive Producer), JV Girls’ Basketball, Student Ambassador Leadership Team, Concert Band, and AAUW Tech Trek.

Audrey L. Salgado stated, “Lydia is wise beyond her years.  She is passionate about government, the political environment and its processes and plans to pursue a career in Communication/Journalism.”

2019 AAUW National Election

 

 

 

 

In spring 2019 AAUW members will be asked to vote on amendments to the Public Policy Priorities in addition to electing members to the national Board of Directors. No amendments to the AAUW bylaws have been proposed by the Governance Committee or AAUW Board of Directors for the 2019 vote.
